Derek Webb Wants Artists To Give You More Free Music
Submitted by webmaster on May 16, 2007 - 11:37am. Derek Webb | Folk | News StorySinger/songwriter Derek Webb is trying to broaden his audience and is trying many new ways to gain an audience. Last year he gave away music at FreeDerekWebb.com (if you gave him your e-mail address and those of five friends). This time, he wants to do it again, but on a much bigger scale.
Derek and a couple business partners have announced NoiseTrade, As Derek explains in the video currently on the main page of the site, Derek has found that although he gave away the CD for free, his concert attendance and overall CD sales have gone up. NoiseTrade.com will allow artists to give away their music while requiring that the listeners give them the contact information of themselves and a number of friends. The site will launch in the next couple of months, most likely, but you can still find preliminary information at www.noisetrade.com.
Derek's latest album, The Ringing Bell, was released earlier this month and has been meeting much critical acclaim. At his official website, DerekWebb.com, you can purchase The Ringing Bell and a graphic novel and get the immediate download of The Ringing Bell included.
