The long and winding Addison Road

Addison RoadAddison RoadThe path to overnight success is rarely a short or easy one, and the members of recent INO Records signees Addison Road can attest to it. Formed hastily in 2001 when promised $500 for a gig, the Dallas-based pop-rock outfitted waited six years before landing a record deal.

Their indie efforts landed them airplay across the pond in the U.K., but their big break was still around the corner, and probably still is. The group has certainly generated a buzz of late, however. When iTunes offered their single "All That Matters" as a free download in mid-February, more than 167,000 customers picked it up over the course of a week.

The song is enjoying some measure of success on radio as well, holding at No. 4 on the CHR chart this week. As of February 7, over 80 per cent of American CHR stations were playing the single, according to INO.

March 18 will mark the release of AR's self-titled debut, heralded as "the culmination of the band's mission to inspire people from all walks of life and to find their hope, their identity in God, to be changed by His grace and to extend that grace to a world in need."

In a press release circulated by the label, the band's lead singer, Jenny Simmons, hinted this mission informs the contacts AR makes at live performances as well.

"We're there to love on people," she said. "We're not just musicians and singers with a platform, we're humans, and we look at what we do as a process of going through life together."

Life for Addison Road may change significantly in the coming months, if early buzz translates into the stardom for which they seem poised. The path that brought them here could certainly have been shorter, but perhaps that no longer matters-now that they're here.
