The Rocket Summer soon to release debut with Island Records
RadioU reports that The Rocket Summer (a.k.a. Bryce Avary) is finishing up its first album for Island Records. Titled Do You Feel and set to be released this June, the album has been recorded in a number of different studios-a departure from the last TRS record, which Avary says was recorded entirely in a producer's kitchen.
In a YouTube video posted on TRS's official website, Avary speaks of a few of the themes that appear on the new record, and his vision for the band (of which he is the sole member).
"Some of the themes on the new album consist of just wanting do something greater for the world, but being consumed by my own things," he says. "I can't ever get to those things because of my own issues."
He continues: "I don't want The Rocket Summer to just be some band that's, like, cool for 10 minutes. I just want it to be about something real, and for there to be purpose behind it, and [for] the things I'm saying to actually be real, and to mean what I say."
Avary notes earlier in the video he plays piano, drums, guitar, bass and synthesizers on Do You Feel. A horn section was recruited for a few tracks, consisting in part of a musician who played on Stevie Wonder's classic track "Sir Duke."
RadioU states "So Much Love," the first single from the TRS album, will be released soon.
