Some people ask me if I am going to Creation this year. My normal reply - "Is the sky blue?" Yes it is true that other festivals such as Cornerstone may fit my musical tastes better.
You might say that I have matured in my music tastes since I first attended Creation. But alas, it is the people that bring me back each year. The volunteers I work with at main stage security. The staff I work with at local Creation Concerts throughout the year. The fellow campers I have met over the years. The list goes on.
Since Creation East and Cornerstone are one again held over the same week, I can only attend one. Truth be told, I am not sure if my old truck and camper can make it to Cornerstone. By the way, it is not too late to join me - you can always buy tickets at the gate!
I am writing this as a procrastination measure. After all, I need a break from packing - right??? OK. Maybe not. Such is life. But here I am anyway. I wanted to let our readers know that you should stop by th[img_assist|nid=448|title=Waiting between sets|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=203|height=138]roughout the week to read about my comings and goings at the fest. Not only am I looking forward to seeing the likes of Switchfoot, Flyleaf, Thousand Foot Krutch, and Family Force 5, I am also excited to see what the artists have to say at various Press Conferences.
Yet honestly my favorite part of Creation is volunteering. As I noted above, I work main stage security each year. I check passes to make sure the right people are allowed backstage. Some day I will write a book on all the excuses people have as to why they should have a pass t[img_assist|nid=429|title=Voulunteer Staff|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=197|height=134]o talk to a band. It may be interesting to some, but in reality, no one would read it.
But this year, I hope to give you the festival experience from a different perspective. Sure I will report about my adventures beyond backstage. I hope to bring to you a better understanding on what goes on beyond the scenes. So if you are not going to Creation East, come back and read my account and enjoy the pictures.
Oh, alright, I shall go pack now.....
