If you know me, it's no secret that I am a fan of Pop music. I feel as though I should be half ashamed that my friends and I have been known to blast Britney and Miley in my Jeep going through town, but I'm not!
That being said, I tend to sometimes (just sometimes) gravitate towards that kind of music in CCM as well. This had originally led me to the artist by the name of Britt Nicole. I enjoyed much of her first album, and seeing her live performance and sitting in on her press conference at Creation, she really does come across as genuine. I don't know about you, but I like genuine people!
So, we have a catchy debut CD, a good live performance, and a nice girl. Naturally, I wanted her to do well on her sophomore effort. It took a few listens, but I have come to the conclusion that it's a pretty solid album. She has the inspirational tracks, the playful and feel-good songs, and some nice ballads; all reminiscent of her debut, with a little more 'pow'!
This brings me to my Tuesday routine of checking out new releases on iTunes, as well as seeing who's albums have placed in the top. To my surprise, I saw Britt placing at #13 among many of my favorite mainstream artists such as Kings of Leon, Taylor Swift, Cobra Starship, Gloriana, and Demi Lavato. I know it's not a gold or platinum album, but my peers and many other people understand that it's a pretty big deal for a CCM artist to rank amongst mainstream artists such as these.
In conclusion, I wanted to keep it short and sweet and take the time to say congrats to Britt! Keep on selling!
