Apologies to Provident about my last post; I checked my mailbox the next day and I found a copy of the Good Monsters album. I gave it a cursory listen during work and it sounds great, although, like every release, it sounds like a whole new style for Jars of Clay. I read CCM's cover story on it, and I hope I get to give it a listen sometime soon.
Another item in my mailbox was the upcoming album from Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Colorblind (Sept. 26). After a cursory listen, I have less than great things to say about it. First of all, the 11 tracks are all vocal tracks. I repeat, there are NONE of the great instrumental tracks that adorned their previous releases. I had to listen to their live album afterwards just to get my fix of rock 'n' roll. It's too bad.
Also, don't forget to go to FreeDerekWebb.com today. Derek and the folks on his label are gracious enough to let us all download his latest album, Mockingbird. It's the latest from Derek Webb, and although I don't like it more than I See Things Upside Down (I love folk rock more than folk acoustic), I think it's good. Sign up and give it a listen, pluss support the free proliferation of music.
